At the heart of Shaque is a mother’s devastating nine-year search for her missing child. She refuses to accept that her child is gone and continues looking for answers long after everyone around her expects her to move on. Her determination eventually leads her towards disturbing clues and buried secrets, forcing her to question the people she once trusted the most.
Adding another layer of mystery to the story are mysterious photographs that reportedly arrive every year, showing the missing child growing up. The photographs leave the mother with a painful but powerful possibility — her child could still be alive. As she follows the trail, the line between what she sees, what she believes and what is actually happening begins to blur, creating the psychological tension at the centre of the series.
For Parineeti, the project marks an important new chapter as she steps into the world of long-form streaming for the first time. Playing a mother driven by instinct and an almost unbreakable determination, the actor gets an emotionally demanding role that puts her character at the heart of the mystery. Speaking about the series, Parineeti has said that the story connected with her because of its focus on a mother’s instinct and her relentless fight to find her child.
Created by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra, Shaque: Trust No One is directed by Rensil D’Silva. Sapna Malhotra and Siddharth P. Malhotra have produced the series under Alchemy Filmz. The show also features Harleen Sethi, Sumeet Vyas and Dhruv Chowdhary in key roles, adding to an ensemble that promises plenty of secrets and shifting loyalties.
With its central question of whether the person responsible could actually be hiding within the mother’s closest circle, Shaque: Trust No One appears ready to play directly on one of our biggest fears — what if the people we trust most are the ones we should fear? Parineeti Chopra’s series debut arrives on Netflix on September 24, and judging by the trailer, audiences can expect a dark psychological mystery where trust is fragile, answers are hard to find and almost everyone has something to hide.
